Is this for you?
You value effective and compassionate communication. You want to cultivate mindfulness, and skills that help you create thriving relationships.
You’ve taken at least one workshop with Wise Heart, and have started to practice Mindful Compassionate Dialogue (MCD) in your own life. You know that these skills require consistent attention and support to integrate, and you’re looking for a structured practice opportunity.
You enjoy coming together in a community of practitioners with shared values to connect and enjoy mutual support.
What is it all about?
Practice groups are offered by Wise Heart’s MCD Companions Will and Adriana. These groups are open to 3-12 participants per session. Each practice session is designed to practice one or more specific skills within the MCD system. There will be practice in the whole group as well as in breakout sessions. Students are expected to already be familiar with MCD.
Life-serving boundaries are about honoring the life in you and another rather than cutting off connection. Setting life-serving boundaries means having clarity about what really serves life or meets needs, and making a conscious decision about how you will relate to another or behave in a particular situation while being able to remain heart-connected.
What to expect:
The session will open with a guided meditation, reading, or presentation given by the MCD Companions. You will then engage in structured exercises in pairs, small groups, or within the whole group. Exercises will be demonstrated first, and there will be an opportunity for debrief and questions after each exercise.
We suggest printing out and bringing the Feelings & Needs List from Wise Heart’s Handouts webpage.
For this series will practice interrupting to connect. While interrupting may seem difficult at first, the space it can create is sacred ground where relational magic can happen.
June 9 3:30 PT Session 1: Interrupting With Empathy Guesses
Practice interrupting with guessing feelings and needs while listening to others. This session supports learning to interrupt with empathic guesses.
June 23 3:30 PT Session 2: Pausing the Action and Deepening Connection
Practice calling for a pause in a conversation and repeating back what you heard. Reflecting what you hear is a key practice in MCD and a doorway to a different kind of connection.
July 7 3:30 PT Session 3: Interrupting Your Own Reactivity to Self Connect
Practice noticing your own reactivity and calling a pause to reconnect with your center. We will practice with self-regulation, discernment, self-care, and accessing agency.
July 21 3:30 PT Session 4: Setting a Boundary in the Moment
This session provides a safe space to practice presence and interrupting with boundary setting phrases.
