MCD as a Clinical Map and Toolbox: An Introductory Workshop for Mental Health Therapists

therapist workshop.png

There is a map for being human in relationship with other humans! An introductory workshop for mental health therapists.

Is this you?

You have a deep reverence for your client’s experience of life and their unique path of transformation. You value leading by following and incorporating mindfulness to access a variety of experiences in heart, body, and mind.

You would like to deepen your ability to offer empathy as a means for healing. You would like to learn and incorporate a systematic way to frame, transmit, and teach relationship skills and interpersonal communication.

You would like a clear way to map clinical work for both you and your client. You value the clarity, focus, and effectiveness such a map can bring to the healing and transformational process.

What's It All About?

Mindful Compassionate Dialogue (MCD) provides a map of transformation and an inclusive system that aims at empowering therapists to help clients cultivate a solid sense of self and fulfilling relationships.

It is a teachable system that can assess and describe stuck places along with specific and concrete tools to get unstuck. MCD provides simple ways to explain the complex work you do together.

This system and tools is especially useful for work with couples. Couples who are eager for new tools to repair and create a thriving relationship will benefit from your ability to teach and transmit these tools in session.

MCD was created by LaShelle Lowe-Charde. It integrates the wisdom and skills of three powerful modalities: Hakomi, Nonviolent Communication (NVC), and mindfulness.

Each modality contributes something unique to the process. Hakomi offers clarity about reactivity and healing. NVC provides a method for achieving self-responsibility, skillful communication, and agency. And mindfulness adds the stable attention and clear focus needed to continuously refine your understanding and skills.

MCD is a system meant to provide access to agency, compassion, mindfulness, and wisdom. Personal transformation is achieved through practice with the 12 Relationship Competencies and Nine Foundations, which arise from a central, life-serving intention.

What to expect?

In this two-hour workshop, you will be introduced to the map of MCD and learn how it could be used as a map and skills training resource.

Our time together will include conceptual learning, role plays by the trainers, experiential learning, and time for questions.

You will receive a short handout and format for mapping your work with clients using this system.

Continuing Education Credits (CEU’s)

At the end of the workshop you will be given a link to complete a three question quiz and three question course evaluation. Once you submit this form, we will send you a digital certificate confirming workshop attendance. The certificate contains information relative to OBLPCT recommendations. We have not gone through a pre-approval process though may do so for future more in-depth courses.

Understanding the online format

We will be using Zoom video conferencing. Please plan to attend with your camera on ready to meet and connect with colleagues and create a safe and focused space for discovery, sharing, and learning. It will be the lunch hour for some and eating lunch during the workshop is welcome.

You will be able to review a recording of the workshop for a full week after it ends. Participants won't be shown on the recording, but can be heard. You can participate in discussions via chat if you don’t want your voice recorded. This course may be sold later as a pre-recorded course.

You can also opt to take the training through the recording only.

The recording will be uploaded and available for viewing on our online learning platform within 24 hours of the end of the workshop.
